Another program is individual sponsorship which places children in homes with parents who are screened and monitored by private agencies; a kind of hybrid foster/adoption program. This is an ideal program for the child, but if properly administered it is not very scalable. The Orphan Coalition puts a priority on funding these sponsorships, but they represent a small percentage of the total number of orphans we can help. If the administration and monitoring are, it would be more scalable, but then the reality of the quality of the care of the children would never be known. One of our mandates of orphan care is the accountability of the care the orphan receives, so the administration and monitoring is necessary from our perspective.
