House of Hope - India
The children in this facility are orphans some of which were abandoned by their family.  Some of them are Yanadi tribals from a slum in that area.  Until coming to this facility, many of these children lived on the streets, begging for or stealing their food, or they were enslaved and abused by their owners.  They are happy to have found a place where they can live in safety.  These children are malnourished and in need of inoculations. Most have had little or no education prior to coming to this orphanage.
This orphanage began with six orphaned children staying in a local church.  Other children arrived after learning they could receive food and a place to sleep there.  The people in the congregation are poor and unable to adequately care for the children, so they desperately need assistance.  They do have water and electricity in this facility.  This area is frequently hit by cyclones.  The main occupation of the people in this area is agriculture.  It is seasonal so they are frequently out of work.
