This is a thatched roof, open air structure.  Although it is in poor condition, it is much better than these children had while living on the streets and they are grateful to be there. We plan to replace the roof this year with a "10 year roof", which for this kind of structure in this climate is excellent. Even though mining and agriculture are the predominate sources of income for this area, the people are extremely poor and this home for orphan girls only keeps these young ladies from becoming slaves or worse. They are happy and healthy, attend school regularly and play with the neighborhood children without retribution. The facility costs are covered as are 5 of the girls, but this home will grow rapidly.
